Assistant Track Coach

OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT

Marlborough School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Track Coach to aid and develop our Track & Field team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Track & Field events: Sprints, Jumps, or Throws. The Assistant Track & Field Coach will be responsible for coaching the event assigned to them by the Head Coach under the guidance of the Athletic Director. This Part‑Time, Seasonal position reports directly to the Athletic Director and the Track & Field Program Head.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Head Coach in formulating objectives for the coming sport season. Keep abreast of new ideas and techniques by attending clinics and workshops. Remain knowledgeable of rules and regulations concerning their sport, and keep abreast of changes. Assist the Head Coach in maintaining equipment and help keep an accurate inventory. Perform additional duties as needed. Before Season: Reinforce all regulations of the School presented in the Marlborough Student Handbook of Expectations, as well as the Marlborough Coaching Handbook. Assist the Head Coach with proper care of equipment, facilities, and other duties as assigned. During Season: Assume responsibility for ongoing care of equipment and facilities being used. Assume supervisory control over any team(s) as assigned by the Head Coach/Athletic Director. Ensure that facility regulations are understood and enforced. Emphasize safety precautions and use accepted training and injury procedures. Conduct oneself and teams in an ethical manner during practice and in contests. Report outcome of contests to the Athletic Department. Instruct players on rules and rule changes, and new ideas and techniques. Provide the Athletic Director and Associate Athletic Director with a copy of all general correspondence and bulletins to student athletes and parents. Adhere to the rules and regulations of Marlborough School. Attend all Athletic Department and League scheduled meetings as requested by the Head Coach/Athletic Department. End of Season: Assist the Athletic Department on the systematic return of all school equipment/uniforms.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree. Previous coaching experience in Track & Field at the high school or club level. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong understanding of Track & Field techniques, strategies, and training methods. Ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor student‑athletes. Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment. CPR and First Aid certification required. Must pass a background check. Practices and races may take place outside in various weather conditions. Flexible schedule required, including evenings and weekends.

COMPENSATION

$25 to $40 an hour.
