Assistant Track: Sprint & Jump Coach

Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Head of Athletics, and the Head Track Coach, the Assistant Track coach provides leadership, direction, and support for the program as needed. They must adhere to Milken Community School rules and regulations, support student‑athletes’ health, safety and welfare, encourage academic progress, and perform additional duties assigned by the Director of Athletics. Responsibilities Assist the Head Track coach in instructing athletes on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. Organize and direct individual and small‑group practice activities and exercises as directed by the Head Track coach. Assess athletes’ skills and monitor them during competition and practice. Supervise athletes during practices and competition. Model sports‑like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators. Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security. Submit a list of award winners at the end of the season. Participate in special activities, including parent’s night, banquets, and award nights. Perform support tasks such as maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of track & field coaching experience. Experience with student programs in a high‑school setting. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community. Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Knowledge of all aspects of the specified sports program. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments. Standard On‑Campus Hours Hours will vary based on athletic seasons and events; occasional Sundays, nights, and early mornings are required. All schedules are subject to change.
