Program Lead

$22 per hour

Job Title: Program Lead Status: Non-Exempt, Part-Time $22.00/hr Reports to: Program Director, Family & Youth Enrichment Job Summary Under the direction of the Program Director of the Family and Youth Enrichment department, the Program Lead facilitates programs focused on family and youth enrichment, with an emphasis on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Programs include Afterschool Achievement Academy, Toddler Achievement Academy, Operation Hero, Camp Hero, Operation Little Learner, and potential support for special events. Duties include working closely with Program Coordinators to ensure program needs are addressed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fulfill program and special event responsibilities identified by the Program Director. Facilitate programs with intention and purpose, ensuring goals and objectives are met. Provide high‑quality programs using current teaching techniques and FYE Standard Operating Procedures; fulfill administrative requirements including program attendance, incident documentation, reports, and monthly statistics. Be a steward of agency and grant funds, promoting cause‑driven leadership and gratitude. Be available to families seeking services and maintain a working knowledge of all ASYMCA programs and services. Complete statistical reporting and periodic program evaluations, using data to inform enhancements. Support grant applications and funding generation by providing participant stories and photos. Actively participate in meetings, team implementation of FYE events, office improvements, and program development. Monitor and organize program supplies and equipment. Support interdepartmental collaboration and partnership with military and civilian organizations to benefit military families. Administer both verbal and written correspondence timely; maintain professional boundaries with program participants and staff. Follow uniform policy and maintain a professional demeanor when representing ASYMCA. Adhere to FYE department Standard Operating Procedures for reporting. Ensure YMCA’s core values and Leadership Competencies are incorporated into facilitation and curriculum. Interaction This position may include interaction with donors, potential donors, program participants, volunteers, partners, ASYMCA SD Board, staff, and other community individuals. Education / Experience Minimum: At least 6 units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD), Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, or related field; experience facilitating children’s programs or similar nonprofit capacity and familiarity with military populations or equivalent socioeconomic groups. Preferred: Valid CA Child Development Permit (Teacher, Master Teacher, Site Supervisor, or Program Director) and/or a BA degree from an accredited university in Child Development, Social Service, Child Care, Family Resources, Education, or comparable study. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices. Professional demeanor with analytical thinking and problem‑solving aptitude. Responsible, well‑organized, and proactive. Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Word. Accurate, detail‑oriented, with strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent customer service, verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and public‑speaking skills. Licenses & Certifications Must have reliable transportation, a valid California driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of vehicle insurance. Must possess or obtain Pediatric and Adult CPR and First Aid Certification. Physical, Mental & Environmental Requirements Work in an office setting and occasionally travel within San Diego County. Perform repetitive movements, bend, kneel, walk, stand, sit for prolonged periods; lift or carry up to 30 pounds. Operate office equipment safely and identify hazards. Prioritize and multitask, requiring strong memory, concentration, and analytical thinking. Must have adequate hearing and vision, including peripheral vision.
