Public Works PositionPublic Works is currently hiring for several essential positions that play a critical role in maintaining the Town's infrastructure. To help fill these important vacancies, the Town has approved both a Sign-On Incentive Program and an Employee Referral Incentive Program.Sign-On Incentive – $1,500The $1,500 Sign-On Incentive is available for newly hired Public Works employees (excluding Administrative Staff).Key details:Paid on the employee's first paycheck following hire.Limited to one sign-on incentive per employee while the program is in effect.Employees who leave Town employment within 90 days must repay $750.Incentives are paid through payroll and are subject to applicable taxes.Employee Referral Incentive – $1,500Help us recruit great candidates and earn extra income!For eligible Public Works positions (excluding Administrative Staff), employees may receive:$500 when the referred employee is hired.$1,000 after the referred employee successfully completes six months of employment.$1,500 total incentive.Additional information:Applicants must identify the referring employee on their employment application for the referral to qualify.Incentives are paid through payroll and are subject to applicable taxes.Examples of Duties• Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, trenchers, dump trucks, skid steers, and sewer-cleaning vehicles; uses hand and power tools as needed.• Cleans, repairs, and maintains utility lines and services, including excavation of trenches and ditches for main and service line installation.• Conducts daily inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation and safety standards.• Performs sewer line cleaning, loading and unloading of materials, and other maintenance or construction tasks.• Works safely in and around high-traffic areas, medians, and rights-of-way.• Trains employees in equipment operation, maintenance, and safety techniques.• Identifies potential hazards, liability exposures, and public inquiries, reporting findings to the supervisor.• Assists with utility maintenance duties and supports other departments as needed.• Adheres to Town, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.• Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications• A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.• Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.• Must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License, with proper endorsements and without restrictions, within six (6) months from the date of hire. Your driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.• One (1) year of experience in utility maintenance and/or equipment operation, to include backhoes, excavators, front loaders, and sewer line flushing trucks, is required.Physical Abilities The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.• Must be able to talk, read, see, walk, hear, and follow written or verbal instructions.• Requires sufficient hand, foot, and eye coordination to operate construction equipment safely.• Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. of equipment multiple times per day; bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and operate vibrating equipment.• Must be able to work indoors, outdoors, underground, in confined spaces, trenches, and uneven or muddy terrain, under noisy and adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rain, sleet, snow, heat, dust, fumes, chemicals, and traffic hazards).• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Desired QualificationsDesired Qualifications• A Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class C Water Distribution Operator or Wastewater Collection II license is preferred.Knowledge/ Skills / Abilities• Skilled in the safe operation of light to heavy equipment, vehicles, and small power tools.• Ability to exercise sound judgment, make competent decisions, and work effectively under pressure.• Strong multitasking and time management skills; able to meet deadlines.• Ability to respond within 30 minutes to on-call or emergency callbacks.Important NoticeTo ensure you receive all communications regarding your application, please add View email address on click.appcast.io to your safe sender list and regularly check your email (including your spam/junk folders).
