Energy Sales Specialist (Field-Based)

We are seeking a driven Energy Sales Specialist to generate and close energy efficiency projects across New York City. This is a field-based, client-facing role focused on identifying opportunities, educating customers, and selling energy-efficient solutions such as HVAC upgrades, heat pumps, lighting, refrigeration, and weatherization improvements.

This position blends consultative sales with hands-on site evaluations. You will meet directly with commercial and residential clients, assess their energy needs, present tailored solutions, and drive projects from initial outreach through signed agreement and handoff for execution.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prospect and generate new business through door-to-door outreach, networking, and territory development across NYC
• Conduct on-site assessments to identify opportunities for HVAC, lighting, refrigeration, and weatherization upgrades
• Evaluate existing building systems and recommend energy-efficient solutions, including heat pumps and high-efficiency HVAC systems
• Present and sell energy-saving solutions by clearly communicating value, ROI, and available incentives
• Develop proposals and pricing based on field assessments and customer needs
• Close sales and manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through contract execution
• Educate customers on energy efficiency programs, rebates, and cost-saving opportunities
• Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline, and customer interactions using CRM tools
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to drive repeat business and referrals
• Coordinate with internal project teams to ensure smooth transition from sale to installation
• Stay informed on energy programs, market trends, and product offerings

Qualifications include:

• Proven experience in outside sales, business development, or territory-based roles
• Background in HVAC, energy efficiency, construction, or building systems strongly preferred
• Experience with consultative selling and closing deals in a client-facing environment
• Ability to perform site walkthroughs and translate findings into sales opportunities
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage a territory and meet sales targets

Additional qualifications include:

• Experience with energy incentive programs, rebates, or utility-funded programs preferred
• Familiarity with HVAC systems, heat pumps, lighting upgrades, or weatherization solutions is a plus
• Experience using CRM tools (e.g., Viewpoint, Prospector)
• Ability to balance technical understanding with a strong sales mindset
• Comfortable working independently in a field-based role

Requirements include:

• Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required
• Ability to travel regularly throughout New York City
• Comfort working in field environments, including residential and commercial properties

Work environment:

This is a field-based sales role involving daily travel throughout NYC, including in-person meetings, site visits, and territory-based outreach. The position offers a high degree of autonomy, with a focus on driving revenue through direct client engagement while collaborating with internal operations and project teams.

Pay and benefits:

The pay range for this position is $66,000.00 - $150,000.00/yr. Unlimited PTO Paid medical benefits
