Gastroenterology Locum Opportunity – North Dakota

A healthcare organization is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to provide hospital-based GI coverage. This assignment offers a combination of inpatient consults, endoscopic procedures, and 24-hour call coverage. Providers with ERCP experience are highly preferred to support advanced GI services and maintain procedural proficiency.

Compensation: 24 hour Call: $2460 per 24 hours, Call Back: $460/hr.

December 29 (7:00 AM) – January 4 (7:00 AM)

Ongoing future availability desired

Schedule

24-hour call coverage (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)

Daily hospital rounding and procedures

Approximately 8 hours onsite each day, with flexibility based on patient volume

Practice Setting

Hospital-Based Gastroenterology

No outpatient clinic responsibilities

Epic EMR

Solo GI coverage while on assignment

Clinical Responsibilities

Inpatient GI consultations

Hospital rounding

Endoscopic procedures

Management of hospitalized GI patients

Acute GI bleed management

Call coverage

Required Procedures

Colonoscopy

Biopsy

Polypectomy

Proctoscopy / Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Hemorrhoidal Banding

Upper GI Endoscopy (EGD)

PEG Placement

Esophageal Variceal Banding

Management of Acute GI Bleeding

Dilation Procedures

Highly Preferred

ERCP

Patient Volume

1–2 endoscopic procedures per day

1–2 new consults per day

5–6 patients rounded on daily

ERCP volume averages approximately 1–2 cases per week

Support Staff

Endoscopy nursing staff

CRNA support

No NP or PA support

Call Expectations

Average callback volume of approximately 10.5 hours

No additional Gastroenterologist on-site during coverage

No supervision responsibilities for other healthcare providers

Qualifications

Required

Board Certified in Gastroenterology

BLS Certification

DEA (required during credentialing)

Active North Dakota License, pending license, or IMLC eligibility

Preferred

ERCP experience and proficiency

Clean malpractice history

Credentialing

Estimated timeframe: 60–90 days

Case logs required for presentation and offer review

Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation required
