OR Scheduler - Perioperative - Hopewell - Full-time - Day

Job Title

Schedules cases accurately and efficiently in conformance with applicable guidelines to facilitate quality patient care. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative activities to support department operations.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: 1 year office experience

Usual Work Day: 8 Hours

Essential Functions

Answers scheduling calls quickly minimizing time customers are on hold. Verifies schedule prior to finalizing with nurse manager or department of anesthesia.

Verifies privilege status of physicians and ensures compliance in scheduling cases. Collaborates with physician's office to schedule cases, negotiating date and time, and avoiding resource conflicts.

Gathers complete patient and procedure information and enters data accurately into database.

Coordinates special procedure needs with appropriate Organization departments and staff, as well as external resources.

Prepares and distributes schedules in accordance with established time frames.

Maintains admission report and other department files consistent with department guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Frequent physical demands include: Sitting, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Talk or Hear. Occasional physical demands include: Standing, Walking, climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), Carry objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, reaching forward, reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl. Continuous physical demands include: Lifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 10 lbs. Sensory Requirements include: Accurate Near Vision, Accurate Far Vision, Color Discrimination, Moderate Depth Perception, Moderate Hearing.
