Restaurant Franchise Paralegal

About the Opportunity We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Franchise Paralegal to join the legal team of one of the nation's largest multi-brand restaurant operators. Supporting senior legal leadership, this role will play a critical part in franchise compliance, transaction management, document administration, and mergers & acquisitions activities across a diverse portfolio of restaurant brands. What You'll Do Franchise Compliance & Administration Manage and maintain franchise-related legal documentation, including franchise agreements, amendments, transfers, guaranties, renewals, and related records. Monitor key franchise deadlines, obligations, and compliance requirements across multiple brands and jurisdictions. Assist with franchise regulatory filings and franchise disclosure documentation. Coordinate franchise-related communications with regulatory agencies, franchisees, franchisors, and outside counsel. Support compliance investigations, default notices, cure periods, and enforcement matters. Document Management & Process Improvement Organize and maintain complex legal document repositories and franchise records. Implement best practices for document retention, file management, and legal recordkeeping. Develop tracking systems and reporting tools to improve legal department efficiency. Ensure legal files remain accurate, complete, and audit-ready. Mergers, Acquisitions & Transactional Support Assist attorneys with due diligence activities for acquisitions, divestitures, and franchise transactions. Review and organize transaction-related documents and data rooms. Coordinate lien searches, document requests, and closing deliverables. Support post-acquisition integration of legal documents and franchise systems. Assist with franchise sales, transfers, renewals, relocations, and other transactional matters. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Operations, Real Estate, Development, Finance, Marketing, and executive leadership teams. Coordinate with external legal counsel and franchise stakeholders on special projects. Maintain legal calendars, transaction timelines, and compliance tracking systems. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of paralegal experience supporting transactional, corporate, franchise, or regulatory compliance matters. Strong document management and organizational skills with the ability to manage large volumes of information accurately. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies within legal documents and records. Experience supporting attorneys in corporate transactions, compliance initiatives, or contract administration. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and document management systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting a franchisor, franchisee organization, restaurant company, or law firm serving franchise clients. Exposure to franchise agreements, Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs), and franchise regulatory compliance. Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions transactions and due diligence efforts.
