Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Oncology
Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00 - 07:00).
Assignment Details
Contract length varies; maximum RTO is 7 days. Every other weekend required. Floating may be required within the facility and possibly to a nearby partner facility.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience; first-time travelers accepted.
- Adult to geriatric patient population experience.
- Current BLS certification required.
- OCN certification required.
- Experience with oncology and hematology diagnoses, DNR/CC, oncologic emergencies.
- Proficient with Epic EMR system required; experience with Pyxis, SBAR, and medication administration (chemo precautions, morphine drips, dilaudid drips, CADD and PCA pumps) is a plus.
- Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6, with an average daily census of 15 in the unit.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for oncology patients from diagnosis through end-of-life stages.
- Administer chemotherapy and manage related medication protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs and identify any oncologic emergencies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management.
- Document patient care accurately and concisely using the EMR system.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and disease management.

Compliance / Notes
Full compliance required to start on time; if not compliant by the deadline, there will be a pushback of 2 weeks due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule. Travelers are expected to work major holidays as defined by the assignment period.
