The Office Assistant position will provide excellent customer service to our patients and will assist with a variety of administrative tasks and duties. The Office Assistant team is an integral part of our organization and is the center of organizing and running the daily operations of our practice. This position will provide Front desk services in a high volume and fast-paced primary care setting.

Other duties may include: customer service call center coverage, establishing new patients, routine outbound appointment scheduling, insurance verification, accurate cash handling and record keeping, data entry and verification of client demographic information. This position must demonstrate excellent customer service both in person and via phone for the Community Health Centers of Lane County clientele. Function as a Front Desk Services member in a team setting to provide assistance to the patients and clients of Community Health Centers of Lane County.

1. Greets patients, assesses their insurance status and checks them in for their appointment.
2. Receives, transfers or refers calls to proper sources; provides complex or technical information, which requires the interpretation of office or program policies and procedures in order to facilitate office operations or assist the public; meets and greets the public and directs individuals to appropriate staff. Communicates to back office via staff messaging and telephone encounters as appropriate, in the electronic medical record.
3. Accurate cash handling and record keeping.
4. Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation and positive interactions with all patients, employees, staff and providers.

The Community Health Centers have been providing quality primary care and behavioral health services to the citizens of Lane County since 2004. Our clinics are Federally Qualified Centers whose mission is to serve the community by offering excellent care and eliminating barriers to healthcare. Our staff must show dedication to providing care with compassion and willingness to work with a diverse population. While this position is posted for a primary location it will require the ability to float to our other clinics as needed to provide coverage, training and support.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Alternate work schedules are based on team-oriented schedules and operational needs. During on-boarding and training, hours may be different than listed. This is an AFSCME represented position.

Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

• Two years of responsible clerical and office assistance experience.

An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Testing Requirements

• Successful hire will be contingent upon taking a bilingual test to demonstrate proficiency in both English & Spanish

To assist in providing bilingual communication with Limited English Proficient (LEP) persons. Individuals in these classifications do more than self-identify; they have successfully passed a test demonstrating proficiency in both English and the other language administered by the County. The need for the use of the second language in the performance of job duties in this classification has been identified.

In addition to the regular knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the employee's main classification, the bilingual duties of this adjunct classification may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Interpreting between English speakers and LEP persons.
• Orally translating documents
• Providing oral assistance
• Providing written assistance, including some written document translation

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of: Both languages, demonstrating the ability to convey information in both languages quickly and accurately. Ability to: Communicate clearly and concisely. Maintain confidentiality of communications.

Experience and training: An equivalent combination of experience and training or demonstrated abilities qualifying the employee or applicant to perform the duties described herein. These skills and abilities may be acquired in various ways; i.e., education and/or bilingual or bicultural experiences.
