Thermoplastics Extrusion & Injection Molding Technician

A day in this role

You arrive, review the production run, and install the required molds — hooking up hydraulic lines, water, and electrical connections with care. You bring each molding machine and its auxiliary equipment online using pre-established process parameters, then perform a quick pre-inspection of first-off parts before they head to quality. As the shift progresses, you apply basic troubleshooting to injection molding processes and automation equipment, make safe adjustments, and, when planned maintenance calls, remove molds methodically and safely. Through it all, you champion rigorous safety practices and steady, precise workmanship.

What you’ll handle

Install molds, including all hydraulic, water, and electrical connections as needed
Start up molding machines and auxiliary equipment to defined process settings
Perform basic troubleshooting on injection molding processes and automation equipment
Pre-inspect molded parts before submitting to quality inspection
Safely remove molds for planned maintenance
Promote and adhere to all appropriate safety practices

Schedule

Five days per week, 8-hour shifts. You may choose your days off as either Friday, or Saturday, or a Sunday–Monday combination.

What you bring

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (required)
Minimum 3 years of experience in injection molding manufacturing (required)
Ability to use basic hand tools (required)
Basic math skills — addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, and fractions (required)
Ability to stand approximately 70% of the time and lift up to 50 pounds (required)
Experience using measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers (required)
Basic computer skills (desired)
Understanding of Scientific Injection Molding principles or equivalent (desired, not required)
Commitment to following all company policies and procedures

Proficiencies and equipment

Proficient in machine setups for production runs
Plastic extrusion experience
Primary technology: Extrusion Machine
