We are seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) for a rapid-response contract opportunity at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

The unit is primarily surgical, with some medical patient care depending on bed availability and patient needs. The department features 35 private patient rooms, two nurses' stations, a shift supervisor, and patient care technicians available on each shift.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Current Illinois RN License – Required
• Current CPR/BLS certification – Required
• ACLS – Required
• Recent Med/Surg experience strongly preferred
• Ability to provide safe, patient-centered care in a fast-paced surgical/medical environment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to surgical and medical patients.
• Assess patient conditions and monitor for changes in status.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and nursing protocols.
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, patient care technicians, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation.
• Provide patient and family education.
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and quality outcomes.
• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and Illinois nursing standards.
