Overview Registered Nurse – Med Surg, Carbondale, IL. Travel assignment beginning 08/10/2026 for 13 weeks, paying $1,727 to $1,788 per week, with no guaranteed hours. Night shift. Assignment on a Med Surg unit with a surgical focus and some medical overlap to meet patient needs. The unit features 35 private patient rooms, two nursing stations, and a night team staffed with a shift supervisor and patient care technicians. This is a temporary travel assignment with typical agency scheduling practices and a normal pace of acuity for the unit. Key Highlights Weekly pay: $1,727–$1,788 per week Start date: 08/10/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Assignment type: Travel – Temporary Assignment Setting: Med Surg unit with surgical emphasis and medical overlap; 35 private rooms; night shift with supervisor and PN support Responsibilities Provide direct professional nursing care to adult patients in a Med Surg unit, with a primary focus on surgical patients and occasional medical overlap due to bed needs. Monitor patient status, administer medications and treatments per physician orders, perform basic procedures within scope, and document changes accurately in the electronic medical record. Collaborate with the care team, including patient care technicians and the shift supervisor, to maintain safe, patient-focused care and target 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratios on nights. Assure patient safety and comfort through fall prevention, infection control practices, accurate charting, and timely escalation of clinical concerns. Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and participate in care plan updates as needed.
