Summary The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) seeks exceptional candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor to serve in the David J. Sugarbaker Division of Thoracic Surgery at both the McNair Campus and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC). The successful candidate will join a busy team of thoracic surgeons and will exhibit a commitment to clinical excellence, research, innovation, teaching, and collaborative practices. The applicant should possess exceptional clinical skills and expertise in thoracic surgery, have strong interpersonal skills, and have a keen interest in contributing to our innovative research and educational program. The Division helps oversee a traditional thoracic surgery fellowship, an integrated thoracic surgery residency and specialty fellowships. Job Duties Actively participate in department and division clinical, research, and educational programs. Support the implementation of evidence‑based, state‑of‑the‑art protocols and quality metrics for the service at BCM. Conduct clinical activities at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC) and McNair campus. Provide call coverage for Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC), Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), and other affiliated hospitals as needed. Grow the thoracic surgery division through participation in clinical, research, and education efforts. Maintain an interest and course of professional growth through completion of continuing medical education requirements. Minimum Qualifications The candidate must be certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and qualify for full and unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Texas, have completed an advanced fellowship in thoracic surgery. Rank and tenure status are commensurate upon qualifications.
