Cook Position at University of Alaska Southeast

The University of Alaska Southeast seeks a dedicated cook to join our fast-paced team at the Lakeside Grill and Market. We are looking for an experienced culinary professional who thrives in an energetic, student-centered environment and is passionate about providing high-quality, cost-effective meals for our campus community.

As a core member of UAS Food Services, you will collaboratively plan, prep, and execute scratch-made meals for up to 150 daily customers. Beyond grill and hotline cooking, this dynamic role involves delivering excellent customer service, mentoring student employees, upholding strict safety standards, and supporting catered campus events.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduation and at least two years of active restaurant cooking experience, specifically with hands-on experience on the grill and hot line service or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated training and practical experience with health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Proven ability to plan, cook, and execute menus for large groups (up to 150 customers per meal).

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau, AK. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 75, based on education and experience.
