Ignite the Power of Communication in Augusta, Georgia – Become a Speech Language Pathologist
Imagine a career where your vocation becomes a powerful form of advocacy for others — where each conversation helps another person reclaim their voice. This is your opportunity as a Speech Language Pathologist in Augusta, a city rich in history and community spirit. Here, your role stretches far beyond just treating communication and swallowing disorders; you will be instrumental in unlocking potential, restoring self-confidence, and nurturing significant connections — from the delightful voices of young children to seniors embracing their independence.
This position presents the unique chance to work with a diverse mixture of patients spanning various ages in an environment that harmoniously couples outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient care. Whether your interests lie in pediatric language milestones, adult communication rehabilitation, or supporting seniors with cognitive-linguistic challenges, this is the place to discover both adventure and fulfillment in your work.
Role Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations for patients from pediatric to adult and geriatric populations utilizing standardized tests and observation techniques.
- Create individualized treatment strategies that align with both short-term and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
- Implement tailored speech therapy sessions aimed at improving communication, language skills, fluency, voice quality, and swallowing abilities.
- Partner with other healthcare providers—including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, family caregivers, and other stakeholders—to develop cohesive and holistic care plans.
- Educate patients and their families to foster ongoing improvement outside the clinical setting.
- Occasionally perform inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions, ensuring a seamless continuum of care for all patients.
- Maintain precise and timely documentation in compliance with state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Engage in continued learning to stay informed about advancements in the field through ongoing education and collaborative efforts with peers.
Educational Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an ASHA-accredited Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not already certified.
Licensures and Certifications
- Valid state license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of starting employment.
Essential Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based therapy practices applicable across all ages, with a solid grasp of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Exceptional communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Adept at customizing therapeutic techniques to accommodate diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation requirements.
Benefits Package
- Attractive salary reflecting experience and qualifications.
- Flexible work schedules to promote a healthy work-life balance and varied clinical experiences.
- Opportunities to focus on specialties such as pediatrics, adult neuro-rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
- Paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options available.
- Support for continued education and professional development reimbursement.
- A collaborative work atmosphere dedicated to high-quality patient care and continuous improvement.
