Teller

Overview About the Role: As the first point of contact for most clients, Tellers deliver on the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards. With guidance from the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager, the Teller’s primary responsibility is to ensure banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations. The Teller role also focuses on maintaining and enhancing client relationships by understanding client needs and identifying opportunities to offer additional bank products and services. Tellers perform teller transactions and cash handling with accuracy and confidentiality, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, and balancing cash drawers. They support daily tasks that maintain branch integrity (e.g., ATM double custody, night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, updating lobby rate sheets and brochures, etc.). They mitigate risk by safeguarding money and ensuring prompt accounting or transfer of funds. They interact with external and internal clients, anticipate needs, and provide proactive solutions in alignment with the bank’s Breakthrough Client Service Standards. They stay current on Columbia Bank’s products and services and discuss customer financial needs to identify and offer appropriate solutions; they support branch referral goals by directing basic bank products to the appropriate business partner. Responsibilities Perform teller transactions and cash handling with accuracy and confidentiality, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, transfers, check cashing, and balancing cash drawer. Maintain branch integrity through daily tasks such as ATM balancing, processing night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, updating lobby rate sheets and brochures, and processing returned mail. Mitigate risk by safeguarding cash and ensuring prompt accounting or transfer of funds. Interact with external and internal clients; anticipate needs and provide proactive solutions in line with Breakthrough Client Service Standards. Deepen knowledge of product and service offerings; stay current on changes. Identify customer financial needs and offer appropriate products and services; support branch referral goals by directing basic products to appropriate partners. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. 1 year of banking or customer service experience preferred. Bilingual preferred. Ability to learn and comply with all bank policies, procedures, and systems. Attention to detail and accuracy with written numbers, words, and instructions. Strong relationship-building skills with clients and bank associates. Compensation & Benefits The pay range is $18 to $23 per hour. The role may be eligible for a performance-based incentive.
