Job Description

Title:pK-12 Nurse Teacher Leader

Qualifications:

• Hold valid New York State certification in designated area of leadership position

• Effective communication and problem solving skills

• Knowledge of curriculum and the instructional process

• Ability to work collaboratively in an educational setting

• Able to work effectively with a variety of staff and groups

Responsibilities: Shall include but are not limited to the following:

• Acts as a liaison for the nursing staff with the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services

• Schedules, prepares agenda for, and facilitates monthly meetings for the nurses. Maintains and distributes meeting minutes and sends the minutes to the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services.

• Works with the school physicians to coordinate agenda items as necessary.

• Distributes medical bulletins, Health Department communications, directives from school physicians, and infection control updates to nurses, Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services, and when appropriate, staff

• Coordinates conference day staff development and recertification training for nurses, for example CPR, defibrillator.

• Coordinates the orientation and training of new nurse hires and substitutes

• In coordination with the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services and the School Physician, works to ensure that medication management and nursing practices are aligned to state and federal guidelines

• Serves as a resource for questions from, and answers for, other nurses

• Verifies that emergency packets have been distributed in each school building

• Coordinates student athletic care with the Athletic Trainer

• Oversees student eligibility regarding physicals and sports

• Oversees concussion management protocol for PreK through 12 th grade students, including return to play and/or return to learn

• Contact/Liaison for the development of medical emergency procedures

• Contact person for any of the nurse's absences to arrange coverage for their office with a Floating Nurse, district sub, or possibly a sub through an agency, working in conjunction with Human Resources

• Sets up the school physical schedule for the year with our district's physician's assistant

• Liaison between nurses, school physician and Ontario County Health Department. Must be up to date on new policies and procedures.

• Contact for any communicable disease outbreaks and works with Ontario County Health Department for procedures and protocols. Communicates with Principals, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services.

• Active member of district Health and Wellness Committee

• Health Provider Network (HPN) account manager and responsible for all data input for yearly Immunization survey, BMI survey, etc.

• Contact for any audits in the district and ensures all buildings are in compliance and paperwork is completed and ready.

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services

Salary:As per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Teachers' Association

Terms of Employment:

The position of pK-12 Nurse Teacher Leader is a ten month position.

The terms established in accordance with the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Teachers' Association.

Evaluation:

Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by district administration.
