Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Responsibilities:Development of acoustic, shock and vibration environments and loads to support systems and component design, validation testing and structural margin verification, by applying combinations of dynamic test data and analysis.Perform structural dynamic analysis simulation and modeling efforts to support design activities across all Northrop Grumman, Propulsion System and Controls product lines. These simulations include development of structural/dynamic models, gridding, selection of boundary conditions and constraints, selection of applicable material properties, selection of appropriate simulation code and methodology, and performing model validation.Preparation of technical reports and presentations of work product to both internal and external customers.Provide system level test support including making technical assessments of test hardware and test data.Assist project team in design of experiments testing to provide necessary data to validate detailed analysesForm close working relationships with internal and external customer technical community and specific customer technical points of contactDevelop analytical approaches to assist in the resolution of unique structural issues. Assist in design of test articles to provide necessary data for full scale applicationsLevel to be hired will depend on demonstrated skills, experience, education, and competency.Basic Qualifications for Principal (level 3):Bachelor’s Degree in STEM plus at least 5 years of related experience or Master’s Degree in STEM plus at least 3 years of related experience or PhD in STEM plus at least 1 year of related experienceSignificant experience in modeling with FEA software (ABAQUS, NASTRAN, ANSYS, FEMAP, Wave6 or equivalent)Programming skills in Matlab, Simulink or PythonExperience with shock and vibration testing and analysisDemonstrated ability to prepare and present analytical results in both oral and written formatsExcellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation, and critical thinking skillsComfortable in team and lead rolesWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisiteBasic Qualifications for Sr. Principal (level 4):Bachelor’s Degree in STEM plus at least 8 years of related experience or Master’s Degree in STEM plus at least 6 years of related experience or PhD in STEM plus at least 4 year of related experienceSignificant experience in modeling with FEA software (ABAQUS, NASTRAN, ANSYS, FEMAP, Wave6 or equivalent)Programming skills in Matlab, Simulink or PythonExperience with shock and vibration testing and analysisDemonstrated ability to prepare and present analytical results in both oral and written formatsExcellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation, and critical thinking skillsComfortable in team and lead rolesWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisitePreferred Qualifications:Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical EngineeringCurrent Active Security ClearancePrior experience in solid rocket motor design and analysisExperience using NX solid modeling softwareStrong experience developing Matlab scripts to process dynamic dataExperience performing structural dynamics analysis on flight vehiclesApplicable experience in performing analysis incorporating isotropic, orthotropic, hyperelastic materials, and measured damping properties in linear and non-linear dynamic analysesModal test and model correlation experienceVibroacoustic analysis experienceExperience with component loads development following aerospace practicesFamiliar with SMC-S-016 and/or NASA 7000 series standardsExperience calculating fatigue damage accumulation in response to dynamic environmentsPersonal poise, demonstrated ability to prepare and present analytical results in both oral and written formatsCritical thinking skills, logical approaches, attention to detailPrimary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
