Trauma Registrar

About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Trauma Registrar for a full-time, remote contract position. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the Trauma Services registry database, identifying qualifying trauma cases, reviewing and abstracting medical records, and accurately coding diagnoses. You will play a vital role in maintaining accessible, high-quality data while supporting multidisciplinary healthcare teams, ensuring compliance with industry trauma standards, and producing critical reports for quality improvement and injury research. Key Responsibilities Database Management: Oversee and manage the Trauma Services registry database, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and highly accessible. Data Abstraction & Coding: Identify qualifying trauma cases, comprehensively review medical records, abstract vital data, and code diagnoses and treatments appropriately. Reporting & Compliance: Submit registry data to applicable county or state agencies and ensure compliance with ACS Trauma Standards and other regulatory requirements. Quality Assurance: Identify and resolve registry quality assurance issues effectively. Research & Improvement: Produce actionable reports for injury research, performance improvement, quality improvement, and administration. Administrative Support: Maintain department records, computer files, and reference materials. Support multidisciplinary healthcare team activities and special department projects. Confidentiality: Strictly adhere to medical information release laws, patient confidentiality standards, and all applicable privacy regulations. Required Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience. Experience: 1+ years of recent, relevant professional experience. Technical Skills: Proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10). Hands-on experience with medical record review, data abstraction, and diagnosis/treatment coding. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, and Word). Knowledge Base: strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Analytical Skills: Ability to perform basic analytical calculations and maintain highly accurate records. Soft Skills: Excellent written and spoken English communication skills. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and effective problem-solving.
