At Westinghouse, we recognize that our employees are our most valuable asset and we seek to identify, attract and recruit the most qualified talent while recognizing and encouraging the value of diversity in the global workplace.About the role: As a Principal Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will provide senior technical leadership and facilities mechanical engineering support for the LEU+ Fuel Fabrication Facility Construction Project at the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF). You will report to the Facilities Support Lead/Supervisory Engineer and be assigned to the LEU+ Fuel Fabrication Facility Construction Project. You will be a technical authority and mentor for facilities mechanical engineering work. An Operations workplace persona is offered, allowing employees to work from home one day per week, or one day every other week when utilizing the optional 9/80 schedule.Key Responsibilities:Lead the resolution of complex technical issues for the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) and provide technical direction for capital and expense projectsLead and collaborate with multi-discipline engineering teams in the design, analysis, and evaluation of facility systems.Apply engineering principles and engineering codes and standards like ASME and ANSI, to the design, analysis, and evaluation of systemsDevelop calculations and reports to document design and analysis results following ASME Section VIII, IX, and X code requirements, API, other international codes, and facility standards and specificationsConduct field walkdowns and construction oversight servicesSupport factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and startup/commissioning services for equipment and systemsApply procurement engineering and part optimization techniques to engineering projects.Diagnoses and troubleshoot problems with existing equipment.Work with engineers in other disciplines such as electrical/I&C and civil/structural and EH&S.Participate in project teams with internal and external representation.Lead customer and vendor technical discussions and present technical materials, recommendations, and justification of services and product designs.Provide technical oversight to ensure work is completed within established scope, budget, schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements.Mentor engineers, review technical work, and promote consistent application of engineering methods, codes, standards, and facility requirements.Occasionally assist with emergent issues and/or after-hours calls.Qualifications:10 or more years of progressive engineering experience, including significant experience in facility systems, engineering design, and technical leadershipBachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical (preferred), Civil, Chemical, or Industrial EngineeringFamiliarity with the power industry, manufacturing, chemical plant or instrumentation & controls and automation systemsFamiliarity with ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3 criteriaServe as a technical authority, lead complex engineering decisions, mentor engineers, and communicate recommendations to stakeholders and leadershipUnderstand applicable NRC and OSHA standards and regulations.We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices.
