Department : Accounting/Finance Reports to : Chief Operating Officer & Chief Executive Officer FLSA Category : Exempt Type of Position : Full-time Position Summary Under the supervision of the COO and CEO, the Controller is accountable for the accounting/finance operation of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Duties And Responsibilities Maintain documented system of accounting policies and procedures. Oversee the operations of the accounting department so as to achieve the department’s goals and objectives; supervise accounting personnel. Ensure that the accounts payables and collections are made on a timely basis. Ensure that the payroll is processed in a timely manner and follow-up on any payroll issues. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed and that the required debt payments are made in a timely manner. Maintain chart of accounts; maintain orderly filing system. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions. Issue timely and complete financial statements as is necessary. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report. Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of the company’s operations. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to owners. Provide for a system of management cost reports. Provide financial analyses as needed in particular capital investment pricing decisions and contract negotiations. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants. Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Participate in any special projects and compile any special reports. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions that are in the best interest of the company. Administer the 401(k) Plan, ensuring that the employer and employee contributions are made as specified; ensure that annual meetings are conducted with financial advisor(s) and employees follow through on their requests to participate in the Plan. Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, associates and others in a courteous and professional manner. Attend management and other meetings. Perform any other related duties for Caribbean Food Delights and other related companies as assigned and unilaterally determined by CFD. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent 7-10 years related experience Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Excel; Sage and other accounting software Strong managerial and leadership abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong math, analytical and data entry skills Self-motivated and self-directed Ability to work with senior management team.
