Staff RN- 3 Main Acute Care- (7p-7a)

UPMC Cole is hiring a full time Staff RN for our 3 Main Acute Care department. This is a night shift position with hours from 7p-7a with off shift coverage as needed. Every other weekend and holiday rotation is required. Purpose: Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. • 20,000 sign-on bonus available for nurses with over one year of experience
• 15,000 sign-on bonus available for Graduate Nurses and nurses with one year or less of experience

Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder that reflects level of education, experience and manager discretion at time of offer. Responsibilities Comprehensive Nursing Care: Maintains nursing care standards; implements hospital policies and procedures; assesses patient condition, determines outcomes, defines nursing actions; collaborates with interdisciplinary team; reports observations; assigns nursing duties; administers medications and treats patients; supervises and evaluates care; assists physicians with procedures; manages supplies and equipment; guides orientation and performance evaluations; provides direct care; coordinates therapy and procedures; establishes communication; participates in committees; ensures patient safety culture; monitors pain; educates patients; performs telemetry (if applicable); rounds hourly on patients. PACU, ICU, SPU, OB: Displays knowledge of anesthetic agents, narcotic analgesics, reversal drugs; knows surgical procedures and post‑operative care; recognizes complications and knows when to notify surgeon/anesthesia. ER, ICU: Recognizes arrhythmias; performs 12‑lead EKG; serves as Code Team leader; defibrillates; monitors vitals via central/arterial line; cares for ventilated patients. ONCOLOGY: Understands disease processes and chemotherapy agents; assesses central lines; monitors side effects; manages infiltrations/extravasations; handles toxic spills; reassesses pain. Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit – Geriatric: Knowledge of psycho‑dynamics and therapeutic processes; conducts accurate assessments and care plans; participates in staffing and case conferences; sets limits to prevent escalation; upholds patient confidentiality and rights. #J-18808-Ljbffr UPMC
