We’re looking for a Project Manager – Manufacturing & Capital Projects to lead those initiatives at our Coldwater facility.

This isn’t a role where you simply maintain a project plan. You’ll help define what needs to be built or improved, develop the technical approach, coordinate engineering and suppliers, manage budgets and schedules, oversee installation and commissioning, and help turn completed projects over to Operations.

What You’ll Do

As Project Manager, you’ll lead technical projects involving capital equipment, manufacturing processes, facility improvements, and product or process development .

You’ll be responsible for bringing the right people, resources, plans, and technical information together to move projects from concept through successful implementation.

You will:

• Lead technical and capital projects from initial concept through completion
• Develop project strategies, objectives, and upfront engineering packages
• Define design requirements and scopes of work
• Help evaluate and select technologies, equipment, and technical solutions
• Develop equipment and product specifications, process flow sheets, layouts, and      resource requirements
• Build and manage project schedules, budgets, milestones, resources, and deliverables
• Coordinate procurement of equipment, materials, engineering services, construction      services, and other project resources
• Oversee engineering, construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and      startup activities
• Track project performance against schedule and budget
• Identify and address technical, cost, resource, and schedule risks
• Coordinate internal teams, engineering partners, contractors, vendors, and equipment      suppliers
• Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and outstanding actions to stakeholders
• Maintain project documentation
• Support the transition of completed projects into Operations
• Make sure projects meet Elmet’s technical, operational, quality, and safety      expectations

The formal role specifically encompasses the full project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and startup. 

Work Across the Business

Successful manufacturing projects don’t happen within one department. You’ll work closely with:

Operations • Engineering • Maintenance • Quality • EHS • Site Leadership • Suppliers • Contractors • Equipment Vendors

Depending on the project, you may also lead internal employees, contractors, vendors, and other project resources responsible for delivering specific portions of the work.  

That means you’ll need to be as comfortable communicating with people as you are managing the technical details of a project.

What You Need to Succeed

We’re looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with strong project execution.

You’ll need:

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
• Experience managing technical, engineering, manufacturing, or capital projects
• Experience taking projects through multiple phases—from concept and planning through      implementation and startup
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, resources, milestones, and      deliverables
• Strong organization and prioritization skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• The ability to identify project risks, evaluate alternatives, and resolve technical or      operational issues
• Clear written and verbal communication
• The ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and external partners
• A strong commitment to safety and project requirements

• Engineering, Operations, vendors, and contractors know what’s expected of them

• Capital equipment and facility projects progress safely and efficiently
• Schedule and budget issues are identified and addressed quickly
• Equipment installation and commissioning are well coordinated
• New or modified equipment and processes successfully transition into Operations
• Project documentation is complete and useful
• The people operating and maintaining what you’ve delivered are prepared for startup
• Completed projects deliver the technical and operational results they were designed to achieve

Your Workplace

This is an onsite role with work taking place in both office and manufacturing environments.

You’ll regularly move between project planning activities and the areas where the work is actually happening—including production, equipment installation, and active project or construction areas. Required PPE will vary depending on the area and activity. 

Some travel may also be required based on assigned projects, including travel to other Elmet facilities, supplier or vendor locations, and project sites.
