Purpose: The Education and Linkage Coordinator will coordinate specific activities delineated in the Human Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) funded project, Michigan Child Collaborative Care-Connect. These activities include coordinating activities with university partners, organizing informational technology needs, assist with educational logistics, scheduling, case-materials, copying and distributing educational materials and linking with evidence-based practices available in Michigan to children and youth. The coordinator will also be responsible for data management for all education objectives and HRSA reporting during the five-year grant period. The coordinator will work with the project Leadership (Project Director, Data Manager, Program Director and Manager) and Advisory Committee as well as Mental Health Services to Children and Families Personnel regarding the implementation of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Educational Activities: The Coordinator will organize information technology needs, logistics, scheduling, case-materials, distributing educational materials, data management and dissemination for all education objectives of the HRSA funded Pediatric Mental Health Care Access Program, Michigan Child Collaborative Care (MC3) – Connect.

2. Evidence Based Practice Coordination: The Coordinator will assist in identifying processes to refer between programs and provide information about each linkage program to Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) who can in turn inform primary care providers within their region. These processes will be evaluated quarterly with input from all leads and the Advisory Committee. The coordinator will identify other evidence-based interventions in years 3-5 of the project that merit linkage. The Coordinator will meet with MC3 Connect and Linkage leads on a regular basis (at least quarterly).

3. Project Coordination: MDHHS Project Director and Education/Linkage Coordinator will have regular conference calls and meetings with University of Michigan-Michigan Medicine (MM) and Michigan State University (MSU) regarding the MC3-Connect. The conference calls/meetings will discuss the project objectives/activities, status of expenditures, project barriers identified and solutions with the project partners (MSU, MM). The Educational and Linkage Coordinator will meet regularly with the MC3-Connect Advisory Committee regarding the implementation of the project, identified barriers, potential solutions. The Education and Linkage Coordinator will prepare reports regarding the project objectives/ activities including data collection relevant to the project's objectives. The Education and Linkage Coordinator will participate in meetings and conference calls with HRSA regarding the implementation of the funded project including conference calls/webinars with the project evaluators. The Coordinator may participate in national Project Conferences/Meetings as deemed appropriate by MDHHS.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Minimum of a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling or Human Service degree. Licensure by the State of Michigan for professional discipline (MSW, LLP, LLPC) is desirable.

Experience: A minimum of three-five years of professional experience delivering community based mental health services to children/youth with serious emotional disturbance and their families. Experience developing and implementing integrated behavioral health services to children/youth and their families preferred. Experience working collaboratively with health care providers, child-serving human service systems and institutions of higher education.

Important Skills and Characteristics: Ability to coordinate and oversee training activities with partners from universities, primary care and Community Mental Health Services Programs (CMHSPs). Highly organized. Strong attention to detail. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Accurate and timely with data collection. Team player. Strength based. Dependable. Experience with data collection and program evaluation is an asset.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time. Standard office environment. Requires valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: Lead workers act as project leaders predominantly and/or coordinate the work activities of others.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This project is a high impact project. It is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration and critical to the ongoing work to integrated services for children and their families between the health and behavioral health systems. The results will be of high interest to leadership of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Administration and of MDHHS.
