The Grants Manager is accountable for the total management from acquisition through completion of all grants. This is a critical management position within the Chenega Kampasaaq that is responsible for finding, developing, and submission of grant opportunities. This includes developing and preparing grants research and writing and coordination of grant applications amongst Chenega Kampasaaq, the Chenega IRA Council, and other relevant internal and external stakeholders. The Grants Manager actively participates in the identification and evaluation of funding sources and is responsible for connecting viable funding opportunities with strategic projects and their respective staff(s). This position consults with IRA Council, CRDG and Kampasaaq staff on budget management, activity, budget approval and communicates with grant makers and contractors for budget planning and grant writing. - Manage and administers the preparation of grant applications and other required documents for grant submission and management.
- Responsible for monitoring and evaluating overall grant process to communicate compliance requirements of local, state, and federal rules, policies, and regulations.
- Provide advice, interpretation, specialized guidance on statutes, interpretation of regulations and procedures as they relate to grants awarded to CRDG.
- Manages and directs a coordinated approach and consistent interpretation of grant management activities across projects and departments within CRDG, for assigned grants.
- Develop, compose, and coordinate the preparation of material relating to grant management to employees and senior officials of CRDG, local, state, and federal agencies.
- Manages appropriate project and strategic plans, overviews, and summaries for management as they related to grant fundraising
- Support a variety of special projects and assignments, as assigned of duties
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Public Administration, or related business field is required
- Three (3) years or more of grant administration or related experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with Federal and State grants preferred.
- A general knowledge of environmental, procurement, accounting, or budget and cost control theories, practices, methods, and techniques required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to track deadlines required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Successfully pass background and drug screening.
- Post graduate degree in business administration or public planning.
- Certifications in grants management or grant writing.
- Must have a thorough grant writing, grant administration, project management, resource allocation or cost control theories, practices, methods, and techniques.
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written, are required with specific ability to write clear reports including grant applications; coordinate and explain applicable regulations to include reporting requirements for grant programs; analyze data to assess problems and develop methods of resolution; establish rules and procedures; and ensure the CRDG is meeting requirements with respect to assigned grant program.
- General knowledge of work performed by all departments within the CRDG to include, but not limited to Engineering, Transportation, Facilities, Hospitality, Land and Resource Management, and Finance is preferred.
- Analyzes, interprets, and advises on applicable regulations regarding the reporting and administration of assigned grants.
- Must be familiar with procurement processes, budgets, or cost control systems to support project and grant delivery activities, in accordance with applicable regulations regarding funding sources.
- Communicates with government agencies and their senior representatives, consultants, CRDG employees representing all levels of the organization and various departments, for the purpose of coordinating record keeping requirements for assigned grants. Contacts include, but are not limited to, CRDG employees, public, government agencies and their senior representatives.
- Sufficient fine motor skill for use of computers, calculator with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time
- Visual, auditory and communication abilities sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
- Ability to kneel bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis,
- Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and more on an occasional basis
- Ability to travel by plane and safely operate a motor vehicle
- The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
- During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
