Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a related specialty License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS preferred, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Epic experience - Ability to provide care for post-surgical and trauma patients - Experience with cardiac monitoring and IV protocols Description: This is a 26-bed acute care unit with a diverse patient population. The patient population primarily consists of general surgery and trauma patients. Post-surgical patients make up 90% of the unit. The remaining 10% have medical diagnoses. All rooms are equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography, and continuous pulse oximetry. Nurses work with a patient ratio of 1:4, with occasional shifts of 1:5. Free-float charge nurses manage unit operations. Support staff includes clinical nurse specialists, nurse managers, and respiratory services. Nurses are not required to verify telemetry strips as this task is carried out by monitor techs. The unit is supported by phlebotomy and IV teams, reducing the need for specialized skills in these areas. An inpatient wound care team is available 7 days a week for wound vac and ostomy needs. Weekend shifts are required, along with every other holiday. Candidates must be willing to float to other acute care units as needed. This position requires a strong foundation in patient care and the ability to handle diverse medical needs.
