Full-time nephrology clinic coverage plus one week of call coverage per month

Patient population: Inpatient nephrology patients

Assigned and unassigned patients

1418 patients per shift

6 beds in the department

Trauma Level II

Hospital stroke certified

EMR: Epic

Call type: Beeper

Required call response time: 30 minutes

Average call volume per 24 hours: 1 phone consult and 0 admissions

MondayFriday: 8:00 AM5:00 PM regular hours, followed by 15 hours of on-call coverage

SaturdaySunday: 24 hours of on-call coverage

Call Requirement: 2 hours of gratis time per 24 hours of call

Provide inpatient nephrology care and rounding

Manage an inpatient rounding list fluctuating between approximately 14 and 18 patients

Provide full-time nephrology clinic coverage

Provide scheduled call coverage, including weekday and weekend call

Inpatient Dialysis Unit: Staffed with registered nurses

Nephrology Clinic: Registered nurse and medical assistants available to assist with outpatient dialysis orders and related clinical tasks

Management of dialysis patients, including:

Hemodialysis

Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)

Peritoneal dialysis

Management of post-renal transplant patients

Catheter placement

Board-certified nephrologist

Active Minnesota medical license or IMLC accepted

BLS certification required

Fellowship preferred
