Medical Records Clerk

RiverVista is located in Columbus, Ohio and serves Franklin and surrounding counties. The focus is on behavioral health for inpatient and outpatient treatments. About the Role : In this role, you’ll play an important part in supporting quality patient care by making sure medical records are accurate, complete, secure, and available when needed. You’ll work alongside clinical and administrative teams in an environment where your attention to detail truly matters. What You’ll Do Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date electronic and paper medical records. Review records for completeness and follow up on missing or incomplete documentation. Process medical record and release-of-information requests while protecting patient privacy. Verify appropriate authorization before releasing confidential health information. Scan, upload, index, and file documentation accurately in the electronic health record. Assist clinical and administrative team members with locating and retrieving records. Track medical record requests and releases and ensure they are completed within required timeframes. Support internal audits, quality reviews, and regulatory requirements. Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and River Vista confidentiality policies. Communicate professionally with staff, patients, families, and other authorized parties. Help ensure our medical records processes support safe, efficient, high-quality patient care. Perform additional administrative and medical records duties as needed. What We’re Looking For Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be 21 or older Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn electronic health record systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Preferred: Previous experience in medical records, health information management, healthcare administration, or a related field. Experience working with an electronic health record (EHR) system. Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare privacy requirements. Experience with scanning, indexing, document management, or release-of-information processes. Healthcare experience in behavioral health, residential care, rehabilitation, or a similar setting.
