Full-Time | $55,000–$60,000 per year | Immediate Hire

New Generation Montessori is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to join our administrative team full-time.

This is not an entry-level or basic data-entry position .

We are looking for a knowledgeable, dependable, and highly organized accounting professional who can independently maintain accurate financial records, perform reconciliations, support month-end closing, and prepare reliable financial reports for management.

The right candidate must have strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks and be comfortable working with multiple accounts, companies, and financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in QuickBooks

• Record, review, and properly classify income and expenses

• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations

• Review and reconcile General Ledger accounts

• Prepare and post appropriate journal entries

• Maintain vendor records and payment information

• Review financial transactions for accuracy and proper coding

• Monitor outstanding balances, payments, and account activity

• Assist with payroll-related accounting and reconciliations

• Prepare monthly financial reports for management

• Prepare and review Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and other financial reports

• Support and assist with month-end and year-end closing

• Identify discrepancies, investigate them, and follow through until they are resolved

• Maintain organized financial documentation for management, CPAs, audits, and tax preparation

• Assist with financial analysis and special management reports

• Work with accounting records for multiple business entities and locations

• Help ensure that financial information is complete, accurate, timely, and properly documented

Required Qualifications

• Professional bookkeeping or accounting experience is required

• Strong hands-on QuickBooks experience is required

• Strong understanding of bookkeeping and fundamental accounting principles

• Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

• Experience performing bank and credit card reconciliations

• Experience working with General Ledger accounts

• Experience preparing or assisting with P&L Statements, Balance Sheets, and monthly financial reports

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage multiple companies, accounts, priorities, and deadlines

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision

• Ability to identify accounting discrepancies and resolve them

• Professional handling of confidential financial and business information

• Successful completion of a background check is required as a condition of employment

• Due to the financial responsibilities of this position, eligibility for fidelity bond coverage is also a condition of employment. New Generation Montessori will arrange the appropriate fidelity bond coverage for the selected candidate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Several years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience

• Experience working with multiple companies, locations, or business entities

• Experience with month-end closing procedures

• Experience preparing management-level financial reports

• Experience working directly with business owners, management teams, controllers, or CPAs

• Experience in a multi-location organization is a plus

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who does more than enter transactions.

The successful candidate should understand how the accounting process fits together and be able to recognize when something does not look correct.

You should be comfortable reviewing accounts, reconciling balances, preparing reports, researching discrepancies, and providing management with financial information they can rely on.

Accuracy, accountability, confidentiality, and follow-through are essential for this position.

Compensation

$55,000–$60,000 per year , depending on experience and qualifications.

Candidates without professional bookkeeping/accounting experience or strong QuickBooks experience will not be considered.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and eligibility for fidelity bond coverage.
