Facility Planner

Purpose and Scope The Facility Planner / Space Utilization Coordinator will act as the on‑site Directorate Facility Utilization Manager (DFUM) responsible for representing, coordinating, and managing organizational interests in space utilization in accordance with KNPR 8830.1, Facility Asset Management Procedural Requirements. Key Responsibilities Track facility space utilization and personnel moves in FSMS and SSMT. Manage space requests in FSMS from request through space assignment; track request date, requestor, class of space, square footage, justification, need date and close date. Serve as the point of contact for initiating and monitoring room placard requests related to facility modifications and ensure timely processing. Update SSMT with points of contact for each cube, office or common area for contractor‑managed facilities per KNPD 8830.2. Support FUO in Space Allocations and Utilization, Space Modifications and Move, and the Facility Asset Management Process per KDP‑KSC‑P‑1304, ‑P‑1311, ‑P‑3253. Complete walkdowns of contractor‑managed facilities to support SSMT updates and update discrepancies as needed. Provide data to the FUO for the NASA Facility Management Board (FMB), including open, closed and new active space requests. Provide analysis of KSC facility capabilities and space utilization; recommend cost‑effective solutions. Develop and submit space allocation studies and letters; develop and maintain schedules for all space utilization modifications and personnel moves. Integrate and provide input for the annual FRPP space utilization call and for the annual Building Space Utilization Report. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field; equivalent experience may substitute. 5 years of space planning and integration experience. Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation. Experience with MS Office Suite tools. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Works well independently or with limited supervisory oversight. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Other Requirements U.S. citizen; able to obtain and maintain required clearances/badges. Proficient in English (verbal and written). Valid driver’s license. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands Typical office environment with occasional lifting to 20 pounds; constant computer use, sitting, and mental alertness; ability to work under deadlines.
