Job DescriptionWGL - Sr. Pipeline Safety & Compliance AdvisorAs a Senior Pipeline Safety & Compliance Advisor, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and regulatory compliance of Washington Gas’ natural gas systems. This is a highly visible, field-connected role where your work directly influences how we operate, inspect, and improve.You’ll be at the center of strengthening our quality and compliance programs—working alongside operations, leadership, and regulators to identify risks, validate performance, and drive meaningful improvements in the field.You Will: Represent Washington Gas during inspections, audits, and incident response with federal, state, and local regulatorsCoordinate across business units—including construction, operations, engineering, safety, and environmental—to ensure regulatory readinessSupport compliance activities under 49 CFR Part 192.615, including emergency response planning, first responder engagement, public awareness initiatives, and incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actionsSupport and enhance field audit and quality oversight activities through regular field engagement and observation, using findings to provide actionable feedback that improves construction and operational performance and reinforces accountabilityAnalyze safety, compliance, and audit data to identify risks, trends, and gaps, and partner with operations leadership to recommend and drive improvement actionsDevelop and maintain reporting tools to track audit outcomes, compliance trends, and corrective actions, supporting a consistent, risk-informed approach to field auditing and quality assuranceParticipate in an after-hours on-call rotation to support emergency and regulatory responseYou Have:8+ years of experience in pipeline safety, utility operations, or regulatory complianceStrong knowledge and practical experience with 49 CFR Parts 191 & 192, including pipeline operations, construction, and incident investigationStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders, build relationships with regulators and first responders, and represent the company externallyDemonstrated success developing and implementing compliance, safety, or quality programsProven project management skills with the ability to prioritize, develop plans, and drive executionSelf-motivated and resourceful, with a collaborative, team-oriented approachIntermediate to advanced Excel skills to support data analysis and reportingBachelor’s degree in engineering, safety, environmental science, compliance, or a related technical field is considered an assetWhy Join Us:Play a direct role in protecting public safety and shaping how our system is built, operated, and maintainedBe part of advancing a field audit and quality program that is evolving and gaining visibility across the businessCollaborate with leadership and represent the company externallyJoin a safety-first, people-focused organization that values ownership, initiative, and practical problem-solving—not just processThe role offers a competitive salary range of $94,000 to $136,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
