Position Specific Summary:

The Healthier Workforce Center of the Midwest is seeking a program coordinator for anopioid prevention initiative.Theprogram coordinator will playa central rolein advancing a statewideeffortfundedthroughopioid settlement fundingand supported byIowa Health and Human Services to reduceopioidrelated harm within the Iowa construction industry. This position supports aneffort to increase industry awareness, develop and deliveroverdose preventiontraining, and buildlongtermsustainability through partnerships with intermediary organizations, employers, unions, and state agencies.

Theprogram coordinator will leadday-to-dayproject operations, manage relationships with construction industry partners, and ensurehighqualitydelivery ofoverdose preventionprogramming,including naloxone training,across worksites statewide. This role requires strong organizational skills, comfort engaging with employers and workers, and the ability to translate public health strategies into practical,worksitereadytools.Travel required for position. Hybrid work may be negotiable.

Key areas of responsibility (KAR) and specific job tasks

Operational and Financial Management

Supportthe creation and refinement ofoverdose preventiontraining materials, including naloxone education, overdose recognition, and supportive workplace policies.

Oversee recruitment of worksites, coordinate traininglogistics, and supporton-siteor virtual delivery of overdoseprevention programming.

Plan, schedule, andfacilitateproject meetings, partnercheck-ins, andon-sitetraining events across Iowa.

Strategic Planning

Develop resource mapping guides to connect employers and workers with local treatment, recovery, andpeer supportresources.

Assistin developingtrainthetrainermaterials, standardized toolkits, and dissemination products forlongtermprogram adoption.

Communication and Outreach

Build andmaintainrelationships with intermediary organizations to embed prevention strategies into existing safety networks.Contribute to awareness campaigns, presentations, and written materials that highlight overdoseprevention strategies for the construction industry.

Compliance

Maintain project documentation, training records, and reporting requirements to support compliance with funding agency expectations and program evaluation standards.

Quality Improvement

Support collection of training metrics, partner feedback, and implementation data.

Leadership/Supervision

Provide training and guidance for new staff/current staff regarding study protocols.

Required qualification (

BA/BS or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 1 year of experience in program administration or coordination.

Strong interpersonal skills andexperienceengaging withdiverse stakeholders (e.g.,employers, workers, unions, government partners).

Ability to use PowerPoint, social media, and other communication tools.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated experiencecollecting evaluation metrics (e.g.,tracking participation,survey data), documenting activities, andgeneratingreports.

Valid driver's license.

Ability to travel within the State of Iowa is required. Ability to meet theUniversity of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard is required.

Desirable qualifications

Working knowledge ofsubstance use disorders, overdose prevention, and/or recovery.

Demonstrated experience delivering or supporting educational programs, ideally in workplace or community settings.

Demonstrated experience with construction worksites, safety programs, oremployerbasedtraining.

Experience with overdoseresponse training or harmreduction strategies.

Demonstrated experiencewith unions, trade associations, workforce development,and/or government agencies.

Demonstrated ability to design or adapt training materials for adult learners.

Demonstrated ability toanticipatechallenges, propose solutions, and adapt to evolving project needs.

Demonstrated ability to work independentlywith strongfollowthrough.

Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple tasks, timelines,andpartners across a statewide initiative.

Project dates: August 2026 - June 30, 2027

Position effort: 100% time

Travel for position: 40% time, across the state of Iowa

Work hours: Typically, 8 am - 5 pm, may include different times for travel and worksite visits

Pay: $29.38 per hour
