Heavy Civil Superintendent - FAA Underground Utilities & Airfield Infrastructure West Point Contractors has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to lead field operations on an FAA underground utilities and airfield infrastructure project in Palmdale, California. This is not a vertical construction position. We are seeking a Superintendent with documented experience managing underground wet utility installation, demolition, sitework, aggregate base placement, and asphalt paving operations on federal or heavy civil projects. Experience supporting FAA, USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, or other federal agencies is highly preferred. Candidates with airfield, runway, taxiway, control tower, or aviation infrastructure experience will receive strong consideration. - Underground wet utility demolition and installation (water, sewer, storm drain)
- Utility trenching, excavation, shoring, backfill, and compaction
- Site grading and earthwork
- Aggregate base placement and testing
- Asphalt paving operations and quality control
- Coordination of utility testing and inspections
- Management of subcontractors performing underground civil work
- Daily coordination with Owners, Engineers, Testing Agencies, and Government representatives
- FAA airfield experience
- Air Traffic Control Tower infrastructure projects
- Active FAA badge or previous FAA badging
- Experience working adjacent to active runways or secure aviation facilities
- Utility relocation experience
- Heavy civil projects exceeding $5M
- Supervise functional construction efforts to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, and manage resources to meet project objectives
- Supervise and direct field supervisors and subcontractors to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance
- Assist project team in scheduling, developing, and implementing project procedures, working documents, and standards
- Interface with all on-site work teams (including subcontractors) to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, and achieve schedules
- Review shop drawings and prepare submittals for conformance with project specifications; maintain accurate submittal register for each task order
- Coordinate, supervise, and manage on-site trades personnel and subcontractor work
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and corporate safety initiatives
- Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working on federal projects required
- Must be able to obtain access to Federal Installations
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.
- Minimum 7 years supervising heavy civil construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience directing underground wet utility demolition and installation.
- Proven experience with trenching, excavation, utility installation, aggregate base, grading, compaction, and asphalt paving.
- Experience coordinating materials testing, surveying, and utility inspections.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors while maintaining project schedule.
- Federal construction experience required.

- EM-385 experience
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods, equipment, materials, company policies, procedures, and union agreements
- Experience managing projects ranging from $5M-$12M in a firm fixed-price environment
- OSHA 10-hour certification required
- Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills
- Proven time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work on multiple projects
- Flexible, self-motivated, and professional
- Meticulous with timely reports and meeting submission deadlines
- Experience using BuilderTrend software or similar construction management software
- Job Type: Full-time
- Salary: $115,000-$175,000 depending on experience
- Preference given to candidates residing in a HUBZone-designated area
