Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Representing clients in criminal court proceedings, hearings, and trials.
- Conducting legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and AI-assisted legal research tools.
- Drafting motions, memoranda of law, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Preparing cases for hearings and trial by reviewing evidence, interviewing clients and witnesses, and organizing case materials.
- Developing case strategy and providing effective legal representation.
- Communicating regularly with clients regarding case status, legal strategy, and next steps.
- Maintaining organized case files and managing multiple active matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to the New York State Bar.
- Minimum of three years of experience as an attorney.
- Experience as a current or former Assistant District Attorney, Legal Aid attorney, Public Defender, or criminal defense attorney is required.
- Fluency in Spanish is required, with advanced working proficiency or native-level ability preferred.
