Role Description

LOTH is seeking an Assistant Controller to assist in all aspects of the accounting processes, including financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, IRS and other tax authorities; transaction processing; journal entries; general ledger reconciliations and review; and the creation and maintenance of efficient processes that support an effective control environment. This department management position requires strong organization and time management skills, the ability to multitask, and a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic. The position will be based out of the corporate office in Cincinnati.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Accounting & Financial Reporting:
• Responsible for the execution of the month-end close process for all LOTH companies.
• Prepare asset, liability, and capital entries by compiling and analyzing general ledger account information.
• Summarize current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
• Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing general ledger account information.
• Maintain financial security by following internal controls.
• Maintain the fixed asset system for all entities.
• Reconcile the entire balance sheet for each entity, including due to/due from transactions.
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and prior year.
• Tax, Compliance & Audit:
• Responsible for preparing and filing all Sales, Use, and CAT Tax returns for all entities.
• Responsible for prevailing wage compliance reporting.
• Project-manage and act as liaison for the annual audit.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; and advising management on needed actions.
• Leadership & Business Support:
• Manage staff, develop talent, and build a strong team.
• Manage and participate in finance and accounting activities across several locations and several companies.
• Recommend, develop, and implement policies and procedures that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability.
• Assist with relationships involving clients, vendors, service providers, banks, auditors, tax agencies, and collaborative efforts among supporting departments including sales, project design and coordination, and other subsidiaries.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required. Minimum of 3-5 years of prior accounting experience with supervisory responsibility. MBA with a concentration in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field, CMA, or CPA preferred. Knowledge of GAAP strongly preferred. Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is a plus. Experience working in an ERP system environment is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations. Ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience. Ability to work with minimal supervision and produce work product while also reviewing staff work. Ability to interact with internal and external clients in a positive and professional manner. Ability to work effectively with the leadership teams of both the Cincinnati and Columbus locations and with associates throughout the business.
