Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Ortho RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting within the Orthopedics unit
• Patient population includes ortho trauma and total joint replacement cases, with some plastics and surgical drain care
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Uses Cerner charting system (preferred experience)
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required and in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) and genitourinary/renal care
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Heparin administration experience preferred
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Level II Trauma Center with 372 staffed beds
• Scrubs provided for this role
• Parking permit required at no cost, completed during orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the facility must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Requested time off ideally limited to no more than 5 days
• First day of assignment includes virtual, at-home orientation with required modules completed by 4:00 PM CST
