Forklift Operator

The Forklift Operator supports construction and job site operations by safely loading and unloading materials, assisting skilled tradespeople, operating basic machinery and tools, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This role plays a key part in ensuring projects run smoothly by preparing job sites, transporting materials, and following all safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment, including using a forklift when required.
• Assist skilled tradespeople such as carpenters and electricians with tasks and project support as needed.
• Operate basic machinery and hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
• Clean and prepare job sites by removing debris, hazards, and obstructions to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assemble and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding according to instructions and safety guidelines.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate protective gear at all times.
• Transport materials and equipment to designated areas on the job site.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks to support the upkeep of tools, equipment, and work areas.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing general labor duties in construction or similar work environments.
• Ability to safely load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
• Capability to assist skilled tradespeople, including carpenters and electricians, with a variety of tasks.
• Proficiency in operating basic machinery and hand tools.
• Skill in cleaning and preparing job sites by removing debris and hazards.
• Ability to assemble and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding.
• Strong understanding of and adherence to safety protocols, including consistent use of protective gear.
• Ability to transport materials to designated areas efficiently and safely.
• Competence in performing basic maintenance tasks related to tools, equipment, and workspaces.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general construction labor is beneficial.
• Comfort working in a physically demanding environment with manual handling tasks.
• Reliability and strong work ethic with attention to detail and safety.
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with a variety of trades and team members.

Work Environment

This role is based on active job sites within a construction environment. Work involves physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials, as well as operating basic machinery and hand tools. The position requires consistent adherence to safety procedures, including the use of appropriate protective gear. Work is typically performed outdoors or in partially finished structures, with exposure to varying weather conditions and typical construction-site noise and activity.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Henrico, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
