Technical Sales Manager, Food Ingredients

The Technical Sales Manager / Business Development Manager (Specialty Ingredients) is responsible for driving commercial success within an assigned territory. This role manages existing accounts while identifying and developing new business opportunities to maximize sales and profitability. The position also requires a strong focus on achieving high performance and commercial excellence for our client. This individual will report directly to the Head of North America Business and will support the parent company and U.S. regional offices by providing market, product, and customer insights. This role focuses on identifying, prioritizing, and converting new business opportunities—both by expanding existing customer relationships through cross-selling and by acquiring new customers. The successful candidate will uphold company core values and deliver customer excellence in all aspects of their work. Roles & Responsibilities Increase territory sales and expand the customer base. Achieve sales targets aligned with the annual budget and forecasts. Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers (direct and through distribution channels). Manage customer data, identify and qualify new leads, initiate outreach, and ensure timely follow-up using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce). Collaborate closely with Marketing and Technical Solutions teams to align customer initiatives with market trends and identify new business opportunities. Strengthen client’s position within B2B accounts using consultative selling across multiple functions (R&D, Product Development, Marketing, Purchasing). Build and maintain strong relationships at all levels within customer organizations. Develop, maintain, and present robust sales plans, including mid-term objectives and action plans for key accounts, aligned with company strategy. Prioritize customer projects and manage them from initiation through execution to completion. Represent the company at selected regional and national trade shows. Job Requirements Required Skills Excellent written and verbal communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce). Highly motivated, goal-oriented individual with a strong work ethic. Strong multitasking skills with the ability to perform under pressure. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team. Strong organizational and time management skills for effective territory management. Willingness and ability to travel (local and overnight). Experience Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Food Science, Chemistry, Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred). 3–5+ years of experience in sales of specialty ingredients in the food and/or nutrition industry (experience with sweeteners and food fiber preferred). Established customer network on the West Coast. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. Must be authorized to work in the USA without the need for sponsorship (US Citizens preferred).
