Overview We are hiring immediately for a Pastry Sous Chef position. Position Details Location: Mountain View, CA Schedule: Wednesday–Sunday Pay Range: $76,240.00 - $80,000.00 Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Pastry Sous Chef to join our Bon Appétit program at Google. This pivotal role holds direct responsibility for the quality, service, and overall experience within our dynamic pastry operation. Key Responsibilities Champion Food & Workplace Safety: Actively promote a culture of safety, ensuring meticulous adherence to allergen management standards within the pastry department. Culinary Vision: Precisely follow all menu specifications, production guides, and prep expectations; diligently utilize opening/closing checklists to ensure consistent excellence. Lead Pastry Production: Oversee the preparation of a diverse range of pastry items—from morning viennoiserie to plated desserts—ensuring they elevate our overall food operations. Model Engaging Hospitality: Set a leading example of genuinely friendly hospitality, ensuring the pastry team’s interactions with guests are high-quality. Inventory & Waste Stewardship: Support weekly inventory management to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize food waste through precise production planning. Talent Development: Actively train, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a skilled, motivated, and inclusive pastry team. Support Sustainable Sourcing: Ensure ingredients are purchased in accordance with sector standards and sustainability commitments. Ensure Policy Compliance: Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef to implement and adhere to employee guidelines and Bon Appétit policies. Preferred Qualifications Pastry Specialization: A Degree in Culinary Arts with a pastry specialization is preferred, not required. Supervisory Experience: Minimum of 2 years of kitchen supervisory experience in a high-volume, premium food service establishment. Leadership: Value-driven leadership with a strong sense of purpose and craft responsibility. Technical: Passion for pastry arts, precise decorating skills, and understanding of baking science. Communication: Strong communication skills to guide, motivate, and collaborate with a diverse team. Technical Proficiency: Proficient with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides). Safety & Sustainability: Commitment to health & safety standards and sustainable food practices. Certifications: ServSafe Manager Certification preferred.
