About the Position

Job Title: RN II-L&D (Mandatory Call) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week - rotating shifts Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in Labor & Delivery required. License: Current RN license in state of practice required. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor required. Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course required. Must-Have: Ability to perform physical and psychosocial assessments of patients. Competence in managing perinatal emergencies, including C-sections. Ability to assess fetal and maternal well-being. Knowledge of pain control management in laboring patients. Experience in educating patients and families throughout the perinatal and postpartum periods. Strong documentation skills for nursing care provided. Description: The Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for planning and providing nursing care to patients and their families during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. This position requires managing emergency situations and assisting with C-sections. The nurse will supervise and delegate care responsibilities to ancillary personnel as appropriate. The role involves initiating multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Clinical judgment will be applied in managing perinatal emergencies such as crash C-sections and precipitous deliveries. The nurse must assess amniotic fluid status and manage any abnormalities detected. Pain control strategies will be employed and alternative methods supported as appropriate. The position requires competence in assisting with epidural catheter placements and monitoring during procedures. Education will be provided to patients and families regarding all aspects of the perinatal and postpartum periods. All nursing care provided must be documented clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner. Consistently performs necessary safety and quality control checks as required. This role contributes to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all patients and team members. All required vaccinations must be received as a condition of employment.
