Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) – HOSPICE – PRIVATE DUTY (FACILITY) Location: Newport News, VA. Facility located on the Peninsula. Schedule Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Weekend work when needed. Job Functions / Responsibilities Personal care including baths (bed, tub, shower), back rubs, oral hygiene, changing bed linen, assisting the patient with dressing and undressing, grooming (hair care, shaving, nails, skin care), toileting activities, and feeding when necessary. Assists the patient in moving from bed to chair, wheelchair, and walking. Reports changes in the patient’s needs and condition to the supervising nurse. Performs range‑of‑motion and other simple procedures as an extension of therapy services as ordered, with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills/competency. Records patient care activities daily. Participates in case conferences, prioritizes work/care tasks to ensure all duties and patient visits are completed when assigned. Adheres to the organization’s documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct. Attends minimum of twelve (12) hours of in‑service annually. Participates in meetings as requested by the Clinical Director/Supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned. CNA’s are never allowed to administer medications. Required Qualifications Successful completion of an approved training program in home health services to become a personal care aide, or licensed as a Certified Nurse Aide. Direct HOSPICE experience as a CNA is preferred. Empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired. Clear communication of a patient’s condition. Initiative to work with minimal direct supervision. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Reliable transportation and a smartphone. Experience Caregiving: 2years (Required) EMR systems: 1year (Preferred) License / Certification CNA (Required) Pay Starting at $18.00 – $23.00 per hour. Location / Commute NewportNews area facility.
