RN Clinical Nurse II - Intermediate and Acute Care

Job Overview UNC Rex Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (Clinical Nurse-II) to join the intermediate and acute care unit in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a full‑time, night shift position specializing in telemetry and acute care overflow. The position is eligible for relocation assistance, tuition loan forgiveness, and a commitment incentive. The Intermediate and Acute Care unit has 29 beds and an average 1:4 nursing ratio. It serves a diverse patient population, including but not limited to: General and thoracic post‑operative patients Cardiovascular patients requiring drip management Cardiac patients managing acute exacerbations and unstable angina Schedule & Shift 36 hours per week Night shift (7pm – 7am) Night shift differentials may apply Benefits & Incentives Relocation assistance – up to $10,000 Commitment incentive – up to $20,000 Tuition loan forgiveness – up to $25,000 Competitive hourly pay based on experience and internal equity Responsibilities Education – Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs; attend education programs; use patient education materials; assess readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers; evaluate developmental level and factors affecting learning ability. Evaluation of Care – Identify expected patient outcomes; seek guidance for plan of care revisions; discuss care evaluation with interdisciplinary team; communicate information to promote continuity of care. Implementation – Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing; utilize organizational policies and procedures; organize and prioritize care; consult resources timely regarding complex care issues. Leadership – Develop professional growth goals; achieve objectives within identified timelines; facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration; participate in unit goal achievement and performance improvement; use communication systems effectively; promote cost‑effective care; give feedback to co‑workers; maintain a safe, clean, secure environment. Patient Assessment – Recognize data to determine care priorities; synthesize assessment into meaningful whole; anticipate discharge needs; develop supportive relationships with families to promote patient advocacy. Planning – Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update plan of care; use multidisciplinary resources; employ comprehensive communication; address cultural and ethnic issues; prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. Research – Read relevant journals; bring ideas and questions to staff for applicability assessment. Qualifications Education Requirements Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment and obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a Master’s degree in Nursing within seven years of employment date. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. Professional Experience Requirements One (1) year of nursing experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities None specified.
