Assistant Principal - Severna Park High Anne Arundel County Public Schools Severna Park High - Severna Park, Maryland Job Details Job ID: 5728884 Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Summary Provides assistance to the school principal in the evaluation and modification of instructional programs, management of resources, and creation of a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff. Responsibilities Act on behalf of the principal in their absence. Assist in defining the school’s mission, communicating goals and expectations. Ensure compliance with Board of Education policies, regulations, and operating procedures. Monitor and improve student achievement through data analysis. Supervise and evaluate all school-based personnel. Support continuous school improvement to ensure success for all students. Develop a school improvement plan aligning instruction and resources to meet academic data points. Implement the school crisis and emergency management plan to maintain a safe environment. Coordinate and supervise student activities. Provide written reports as needed. Maintain accurate student records, including grades and attendance. Engage in professional development for leadership (AP1 and AP2 programs). Determine and implement school organization, placement, evaluation, services, and programs for individual student needs. Assist with business management of the school and local school finances. Oversee school operations unique to the assignment. Model cooperation, collaboration, and positive interactions with students, staff, and community. Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of each student’s IEP and special education compliance. Model a positive work ethic, professional dress, good attendance, and appropriate language. Perform other related duties as assigned. Leadership Role – Management Duties Interview, select, and train employees. Set and adjust pay rates and work hours. Direct the work of employees. Maintain records for supervision. Assess employee performance and recommend promotions. Handle employee complaints and grievances. Discipline employees. Plan the work and determine techniques to use. Allocate tasks among employees. Control the flow and distribution of materials and supplies. Ensure safety and security of employees and property. Plan and control the budget. Monitor and implement legal compliance measures. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree in a related field of education from a regionally accredited institution. Three years of successful teaching experience. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with all school stakeholders. Recruit and retain a diverse teaching and support staff. Create a collaborative team with high expectations for all students. Engage community organizations and businesses to support student achievement and character development. Know the curriculum of Anne Arundel County schools. Build a school culture that reflects diversity. Maintain a good attendance record. Work effectively with diverse populations. Proficiency with business technology applications (video/web conferencing, Microsoft Office). Licenses and Certifications Active Maryland State Department of Education licenses: Supervisor of Instruction, Assistant Principal, and Principal.
