Product Owner

Position Title: Cyber Security Product Owner Location: Washington, D.C. metro area, hybrid (Must be able to support in-person meetings with customers as-needed) Department: Product / Cybersecurity Solutions Employment Type: Full-time Key Responsibilities Product Ownership Own and prioritize the product backlog, translating stakeholder and customer input into clear user stories and acceptance criteria. Partner with engineering leadership to sequence the roadmap, balancing new capability development against stabilization, security hardening, and technical debt. Partner with engineering to prioritize and sequence AI-driven capabilities, including agent behavior, autonomy thresholds, and governance guardrails, alongside traditional feature and technical debt work. Run backlog refinement, sprint planning, and release readiness reviews in an Agile/Scrum environment. Maintain requirements traceability from customer or compliance need through to shipped feature, particularly for security and audit-related functionality. Define and track product KPIs such as adoption, release velocity, defect escape rate, and customer satisfaction, and establish feedback loops to guide prioritization. Support QA/UAT ahead of releases. Make and document informed calls on what is demo-ready, what is roadmap, and what should not be represented as a current capability. Design, build, and maintain demo environments and scripts that showcase real, working capabilities. Deliver product demonstrations to internal stakeholders (leadership, sales, delivery teams) and directly to prospective and existing customers, across commercial enterprise and federal audiences. Support the sales team through technical discovery calls, proof-of-concept engagements, and RFI/RFP responses, providing accurate technical detail on orchestration, response, and integration capabilities. Act as the primary technical liaison between sales, customers, and the product/engineering team during the sales cycle. Represent at customer meetings, briefings, and industry events as needed. Maintain a working understanding of AI-driven orchestration and decision-making, sufficient to demo it convincingly and explain its capabilities, and its limits, to technical and non-technical audiences accurately. Cybersecurity & Compliance Domain Expertise Maintain working knowledge of the cybersecurity compliance frameworks relevant to target buyers, including NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, CMMC, and Zero Trust for regulated commercial and federal environments, and FISMA, the Risk Management Framework, and the Authorization to Operate process for federal buyers specifically. Understand federal procurement dynamics well enough to support proposal and capture activities alongside sales and business development. Translate compliance and security requirements into product requirements and demo scenarios that resonate with technical evaluators, whether commercial or government. Required Qualifications 4+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager on a cybersecurity or security-adjacent SaaS platform. Demonstrated experience delivering product demonstrations directly to customers, ideally including technical discovery calls or proof-of-concept support. Working knowledge of NIST 800-53, FISMA, and the Risk Management Framework, along with a general understanding of the Authorization to Operate process. Hands-on familiarity with core cybersecurity concepts and tooling: vulnerability scanning, SIEM/SOAR platforms (such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, or Elastic), threat intelligence feeds, and ITSM/ticketing workflows (Jira, ServiceNow, or similar). Practical understanding of traditional machine learning, deterministic logic, and large language models used in modern security products, and how to represent them accurately to customers. Experience with Agile delivery practices and tools (Jira, Confluence, or equivalent). Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to adjust technical depth for executives, engineers, and technical evaluators alike. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience supporting federal government customers or federal contractors (Federal Civilian, DoD, or Intelligence Community environments). Security certification such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, or CEH. Familiarity with specific scanning and SOC tooling such as Trivy, Nuclei, OWASP ZAP, Wazuh, or pfSense. Experience supporting RFP or capture activities within a federal systems integrator or federal-focused software vendor. Active security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one. DoD 8140/8570 awareness or equivalent familiarity with federal cybersecurity workforce requirements. Compensation: 130k -140k per year. This is the targeted compensation range for this role.
