PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Summary You will serve as a PROGRAM ASSISTANT in the SELECTION AND PLACEMENT DIVISION of NSTC GREAT LAKES. Responsibilities You will review military personnel related information for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness for scholarship selection and follow-on university placement. You will maintain records of approximately 6000 -- 8000 national scholarship applications. You will review applications to determine if request meets criteria or qualifications outlined in detailed guidelines. You will prepare correspondence and/or respond to calls regarding processing of scholarship application files. You will generate and report on inquiries for scholarship applications and selection status. You will receive visitors or phone calls and provide general program information and/or direct calls to proper recipient. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Processing large volumes of program applications (e.g., scholarships, academic placements, or grants) to determine eligibility and ensure compliance with organizational guidelines; 2) Utilizing complex, multi-interface personnel or financial databases to enter, audit, and track data for program reporting and quality assurance; 3) Coordinating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (e.g., medical boards, legal offices, or academic institutions) to process waivers, resolve discrepancies, and clarify procedural policies; 4) Generating database queries, compiling statistical data, and drafting technical reports or correspondence used by leadership to respond to high-level organizational inquiries; 5) Providing comprehensive administrative and logistical support for formal selection boards, executive panels, or training events, to include developing review plans and documenting board outcomes; and 6) Delivering operational training or procedural guidance to internal staff and external partners regarding program application processes and system operations.
