Research Scientist I - Physical Therapy and Rehab Science

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS This position serves as a shared engineering resource within the School of Health Professions. The responsibilities include instrumented laboratory environment support hardware and software engineering for specialized measurement equipment data analysis pipeline development (including AI/ML applications), device configuration and troubleshooting, and systems documentation. The position also supports wearable sensor platforms, ambient monitoring devices, AI companion platforms, and planned Epic EHR integration for the Age-Tech program. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (electrical, biomedical, mechanical, computer, or related field) and experience with instrumentation, embedded systems, or research‑grade hardware, proficiency in software development and data analysis pipelines, and ability to support laboratory operations across multiple active research programs. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS PhD in engineering or a related field Experience with AI/ML applications in a research context Familiarity with wearable sensors, remote monitoring devices, or clinical research technology platforms Prior work in an academic or clinical research environment supporting externally funded programs SALARY Commensurate with experience.
