Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Frankfurt or Berlin, Germany. Employment type: Permanent. Sector: Data Centres / Mission Critical / Complex Technical Building Services. Morson is supporting a confidential client with the appointment of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for major technical building projects in Germany. This is a design‑led role. Not site management, not installation supervision, not commissioning‑only. The focus is mechanical building services design, TGA, HVAC and the coordination of complex systems on major mission‑critical environments, including data centre and Rechenzentrum projects. You will need to understand how mechanical design works in Germany. That means German project environments, German‑speaking stakeholders, and the level of technical detail required to move complex building services design forward properly. Responsibilities Mechanical building services design across HVAC, cooling, ventilation and associated systems TGA / Gebäudetechnik / Versorgungstechnik design coordination Developing design concepts, calculations, specifications and technical documentation Coordinating with electrical, architectural, structural, fire and wider project teams Reviewing and developing mechanical layouts, plantroom arrangements and system strategies Supporting design reviews and technical decision‑making Working with BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks or similar design coordination tools Engaging with German‑speaking project teams, clients, consultants and delivery partners Helping ensure design quality, coordination and technical compliance across the project lifecycle Qualifications 5‑7+ years’ experience in mechanical design / mechanical building services Experience working on projects in Germany German language capability at professional working level or above A background in TGA, HVAC, Gebäudetechnik, Versorgungstechnik or mechanical building services design Experience producing or coordinating mechanical design packages Strong understanding of HVAC, ventilation, cooling systems, plantrooms and technical building services The ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines on technically complex projects A design‑led background, rather than purely site, installation or commissioning experience Relevant Job Titles Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Mechanical Design Engineer HVAC Design Engineer Mechanical Building Services Engineer Senior Mechanical Engineer TGA Engineer TGA Ingenieur Versorgungstechnik Ingenieur Gebäudetechnik Ingenieur Nice to Have Data centre or mission critical experience, particularly around Rechenzentrum projects Data centre cooling Chilled water systems CRAC / CRAH systems Heat rejection Resilient mechanical systems Energy‑efficient HVAC design Complex industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, laboratory or advanced manufacturing projects Who this would suit This role suits a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to stay close to the technical design work, enjoys solving mechanical design problems, coordinating properly with other disciplines and working on projects where building services are not an afterthought.
