Mainframe Developer
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM to design, develop, maintain, and optimize high-volume enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in large transaction-based systems, strong debugging skills, and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills:
- 10+ years of Mainframe Application Development experience.
- Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
- Experience with Endevor, File Manager, CA7, IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), GitLab, and TSO.
- Strong knowledge of DB2 database development.
- Experience with Agile/SDLC methodologies.
- Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills.
- Experience with unit, system, and functional testing.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, code, test, debug, document, maintain, and enhance complex Mainframe applications.
- Participate in application architecture, project estimation, planning, and implementation activities.
- Recommend technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture, standards, and business objectives.
- Perform impact analysis and guide teams through application changes.
- Establish, refine, and maintain development and testing environments.
- Review and improve unit testing processes and test plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Design detailed program specifications while ensuring optimal application performance.
- Investigate and resolve complex business and technical issues.
- Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and design specifications.
- Follow coding standards and industry best practices during development and deployment.
