Position Overview

Our organization is in search of an enthusiastic and accomplished preventive medicine physician to take on the role of Chair for the Department of Preventive Medicine.

This is a remarkable chance to lead and manage a team of committed professionals dedicated to serving a vast community in Southern California. The Department of Preventive Medicine plays a crucial role in clinical care, education, and research within the School of Medicine. It offers a thorough four-year curriculum in preventive medicine to all medical students. The graduate medical education programs currently under this department include one of the largest Public Health and General Preventive Medicine residency programs, established in 1979, along with an Occupational Medicine residency, an Addiction Medicine fellowship, and a non-ACGME accredited Lifestyle Medicine fellowship.

The department collaborates with the School of Public Health and other programs at our institution, focusing on health promotion and epidemiological research initiatives. Faculty members in preventive medicine provide clinical services at various locations, including the Center for Health Promotion, the Occupational Medicine Center, SAC Health clinics, and affiliated hospitals. Our diverse faculty engages in primary activities across the School of Medicine, the School of Public Health, the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center, and health departments in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, as well as other regional and community organizations.

Currently, our department comprises over 25 attending physicians and 20 adjunct faculty members.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of service line quality, operations, and growth.
• Support established residency and fellowship programs that are accredited.
• Collaborate closely with the Dean of the School of Medicine and the President of the Faculty Medical Group.

We are looking for candidates eligible for a full professor appointment, possessing the necessary board certification and licensure. The ideal applicant should demonstrate a proven history of excellence in leadership, clinical and/or basic science research, patient care, education, and mentorship. We seek someone who can provide exceptional mentorship for faculty in both academic and clinical development, as well as support for resident and fellow training.

The area also boasts excellent public and private school systems.

Benefits & Compensation

The starting base compensation for this position ranges from $300,000 to $350,000, adjusted based on years of experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives and is subject to the specific compensation plans of the department. Further details regarding compensation will be discussed during the recruitment process.
